Keep your kids busy this summer by enrolling them in a fun, educational and interactive day camp. They may be free from school for the next few months, but that doesn’t mean they should stop learning!
Here are just a few day camps worth checking out in the greater Grand Rapids area:
The Critter Barn
Kids of all ages will enjoy their experience at the Critter Barn, where cows roam freely on the grass and rabbits are always hopping between ankles. They’ll make other friends too, including sheep, goats, chickens and hogs. The goal is to become familiar with the care and feeding of a wide variety of barnyard animals.
Grand Rapids Art Museum Summer Art Camp
Designed for elementary school children aged 4-12, this art camp promotes creativity and creation among life’s littlest Picassos. They’ll enjoy a number of crafts, projects and hands-on activities sponsored by the museum, and they might even gain a greater appreciation of the classics, too.
Sky Zone
Do your kids have boundless energy? Does chasing them around the house leave you exhausted and wishing for the days of multiplication tables? A few hours at Sky Zone should sort them out. This trampoline park will allow them to literally bounce off pounded, soft-foam walls, so they should be nice and docile by the time you pick them up in the afternoon.
Camp Couture at Stitched Studio
The art of sewing is being lost in an increasingly technological world, but Camp Couture will bring it back. Your child will learn all the finer points of stitching, threading and designing, creating their own dolls and dresses and building skills that will last a lifetime.
Camp Kroc at The Salvation Army Kroc Center
Nurture your child in an environment of God with this faith-based day camp. They’ll enjoy all the usual summertime fun of swimming, sports and theater, but they’ll do it with Bible lessons and positive spiritual reinforcement.
Camp Mud at The Mud Room
Kids love getting squishy and dirty, but this camp will teach them some new skills while they’re at it. From clay sculpting to mastering a pottery wheel, they’ll come home with dirty fingernails but bright smiles.
These are just a few camps that might keep your child occupied in the blazing summer days to come. Remember, you’ll want something that challenges their mind in addition to keeping them fit. School will start again before you know it, and their creativity and curiosity should be honed like the tools they are.
